Shoots like a dream and patterns like a magic trick out of my Mossberg 590 A1. Patterns are easily 1/3 the size of comparable loads at any given distance out to the 30 yards I was shooting at.
Like all Federal Flight Control products this is a great shell. If you're not familiar with the flight control wad I suggest you try it out. This stuff gives patterns so tight that at 10-15 yards it's basically like shooting a fragmenting slug, out past that it just gives amazingly tight groups and really extends your range with buckshot without messing around with different chokes, in fact this round patterns the best with no choke at all (cylinder bore choke). I have been using the full power OO load (LE127OO I believe) up until now and will probably be making a switch to these. #1 buckshot (especially plated and buffered) gives ideal penetration and potentially 6 more wound tracks than OO, I feel like it uses its energy more efficiently. The patterns are just as tight as the OO stuff however maybe not quite as consistent(firearm was Remington 870). I would like to see Federal produce a full power load like they do in OO, but this is a great load. Thanks to SGAmmo for carrying these types of products at good prices and always shipping them fast and correctly, they are the best.
I shoot a Mossberg 88 with 20 inch barrel. I don't know if this will shoot as well in your gun as it does in mine but in my gun it is the tightest patterning buckshot I've ever shot. All of the new Flight Control buckshot is excellent in a cylinder bore shotgun and patterns very well at much longer ranges than the (Old School) buckshot but this outdoes them all. Number one buck is plenty big enough to get the job done at about any range you can get ample hits on target and I get excellent penetration with this load even though it is low recoil and pleasant to shoot. Carrying a load of fifteen pellets assures more hits on target than nine in most 00 loadings and with the copper plated pellets and buffering the pellets stay a LOT rounder than most soft lead loads assuring better patterns. Under fifteen yards this stuff is a lot like shooting a slug, I get good patterns out to forty yards or more with this load out of a cylinder bore, which it works best in by the way. Out of my 1500 Winchester with any choke it does NOT pattern as well as out of the cylinder bore Mossberg. Good ammo, buy it, you will like it.
